China-Russia Joint Research Center on Space Weather was established in December 2000 by the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics SB RAS (ISTP SB RAS) and the Center for Space Science and Applied Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (renamed the National Space Science Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (NSSC CAS) in 2010).
Co-Directors of China-Russia Joint Research Center on Space Weather are Corr. Member of RAS Andrey V. Medvedev, Director of ISTP SB RAS, and Prof. Wang Chi, Director General of NSSC CAS.

Biennial workshops are organized alternately in Russia and China. During these workshops, the main project executors present the reports on their scientific results. By 2020, the two parties have held 14 workshops on space weather.
